In the latest edition of Cinema in Noir, we chat with Issa Rae, creator, writer, and star of “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.”
We first met Issa back in 2011 shortly after she launched Awkward Black Girl (listen here). Over the course of the last year and a half, the popular webseries has blown up and Issa has become a well known figure with numerous interviews and guest appearances including a recurring spot on the new BET talk show Don’t Sleep! hosted by T.J. Holmes.
Today,we chatted about some viewers confusion between Issa and her ABG character Jay, her love of ratchet hip-hop music, and her latest venture “I Hate LA Dudes” a show she is working on with mega producer Shonda Rhimes.
