A Preview of Steele Magnolias Remake

The trailer for the Lifetime TV remake of Steel Magnolias was released this week. The updated version of the film stars Queen Latifah, Condola Rashad, Jill Scott, Alfre Woodard, Adepero Oduye, and Phylicia Rashad. From the trailer, it looks like the remake stays true to the original film. Back in October, I posted “Casting Steel Magnolias” and told who I wanted to take over these iconic characters. And although I was right about only one of six, I must say that I am excited about this movie.

Check it out and tell me what you think.

“Mama, I Want To Sing” Released Today on DVD

Today, the film Mama, I Want To Sing was finally released…on DVD. This film has been delayed many times for many alleged reasons. I did not think that it would ever see the light of day.

Starring Ciara, Lynn Whitfield, Billy Zane and Hill Harper, the film was adapted from the 1980s stage play by the same name. In her film debut, Ciara stars as Amara, a girl raised in the church who pursues a career in pop music, much to the dismay of her religious mother.

Here is the trailer that was released in 2009:

After all this time, will you check it out?
